About Ambady Estate
A Peaceful Estate Retreat in the Heart of Munnar
Ambady Estate is more than a place to stay.
It is a place that has been cared for for many years.
Our journey began in the 1980s, when this was simply a 70-acre cardamom plantation surrounded by endless greenery.
When we first came here, what stayed with us wasn't a building or a view from a window. It was the feeling of the land itself — the misty mountains, cool mountain air, colourful butterflies and the gentle sound of birds moving through the trees.
We knew quite early that this was something special.
And we didn't want to change it.
Instead, we chose to work with nature. We continued growing cardamom using natural and organic farming methods, taking care of the soil, trees and plantation that made Ambady special in the first place.
That approach still guides us today.
In 2006, we welcomed our first guests, Dr. Triche and his family, to our boutique plantation resort.
From the beginning, we wanted our guests to feel the same peace that we felt when we first arrived.
So we protected the trees, respected the landscape and allowed the natural character of the estate to remain at the heart of the experience.

Stopover in MunnarAmbady Estates is a pleasant little establishment with super helpful staff. The rooms are large with decent amenities though they some bits could be updated. The swimming pool, the viewing point and the dining room are fantastic though we didn’t use the swimming pool because of the rain. The staff from Mr Shyam, the manager, to Mr Rajendra, who always went out of his way were fantastic. We ate at the dining room for breakfast and dinner - the food was well prepared and extremely delicious.

A Unique and Lovely Place to StayWe stayed here for 3 nights. The food was very good and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The grounds are beautiful especially when lit up at night. The estate contains cardamom and coffee. This is still dried in the traditional way . Shyam showed us how and where the cardamoms were dried, and he was very helpful in suggesting places to visit. A very unique and friendly place to stay to visit Munnar and the tea estates
